The Completionist Screwed Up Big Time

Side Note: Please do not go and attack or harass this person.

I didn't want to put this guy on the list because most people would be mad but since the drama unfolded surrounding him, I guarantee that wouldn't be a problem if the discussion were to happen. We've seen countless number of scams in the past ranging from YouTuber's like FireRockerzStudios, SSSniperWolf and uwucutesingle to products and events like MurrrTV (which was a Kickstarter Scam going radio silent) and The Pink Sauce. No matter how you look at it, there's always bound to be scams all over the place regarding businesses, donations and streaming services. Well, The Completionist did just that over a charity that never made a single donation or a single penny.

The Major Fall:

The Charity Fraud / The Karl Jobst Takedown:

I'm not going to talk about the history of The Completionist (a.k.a. Jirard Khalil) because it's too long and will keep this post short.

Jirard Khalil has been blowing up in the medias, preferably because of a charity that's link to him (co-Founded by him) called the Open Hands Foundation (founded in 2003). Jirared claimed that the money that was collected for Open Hands was $600k but it ended up being $655k and also have good reputable ties with other Organizations like University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Here's where it gets sourer, there had been reports that the money wasn't donated to those charities. Because the Open Hands Foundation is considered to be non-profit, they show the fundings public (when it was all exposed by Karl Jobst). Even if Jirard donated, it was considered a small amount of money. After the drama had circulated the damage was already done and when he was called out, he openly admitted that the money was never donated and instead he kept the money.

This blew up in the media with some News Outlets talking about the topic as well as forum posts and two YouTuber's: SomeOrdinaryGamer and Karl Jobst made videos detailing the situation as well as showing on where the money was. Obviously, the Open Hands Foundation fell into the loophole for fraudulent practices of withholding the money. In Karls's video, Jirard explains his reason for not donating the money, therefor the reason for it was because of the charities not being reputable. The question is if the Open Hands Foundation have a lot of charities listed in their system, why go an extra route to find more reputable ones? What's wrong with the ones he chose? I mean it doesn't make any sense if you do the math and think about it. Then again, Jirard tries to play the victim card in this senario.

Perhaps the most insane part about this is that two days after Karl posted his video (video came out on November 13 so this would be the 15), someone from the Open Hands Foundation filed takedown requests as well as a privacy complaint against Karl's video. To our surprise, YouTube stepped in the battle and reject the complaint. Many people speculated that it was probably a fan and didn't want to 'hurt' the reputation of said Foundation however if you've been on YouTube for a long time, you'll know that YouTube accepts complaints from the first party. Of course, we don't know if it was someone pretending to be them in this situation. I will keep this post updated if anything new comes out.
