The last post of November and welcome back yet again to another episode of Whatever Happened To; where we talk about YouTuber's that were very promising but soon fell apart for being terrible. It has been several weeks since I last talked about a YouTuber regarding the 'Whatever Happened To' series with the last one being Minute Minecraft Parodies and the somewhat follow-up of FireRockerzStudios. Although some of these YouTuber's that I talk about in this series are good, the rest of them are terrible. This guy who goes by the YouTube name Combat Wombat is pretty much a good YouTuber who exposes the real shit but has since left YouTube due to a small number of controversies.
What Happened to Him:
Small Controversies / SWEGTA Debacle & Burnout:
Just like many other posts I've made in the past; I'm not talking about the history on Dawson Smith (a.k.a. Combat Wombat) as many of the videos that were once up on his channel have been deleted or privated. However, you can view some of his video archives here.
I wouldn't call this a large part of the drama, it's more like a small annoyance. So, Dawson Smith has been in the center of controversies in the past ranging from having hate comments from him talking about NoughtPointFourLive to just straight up Internet Beef all because of him proving a point. In fact, many of the hate comments that he was getting were all pathetic and didn't understand what he was talking about. He's made two videos on the hate comments.
Then outcomes the SWEGTA debacle. Wayback in 2021, the YouTuber by the name of SWEGTA uploaded a video titled 'Transphobia in GTA 5.' Many of the points that SWEGTA was pointing about the characters weren't adding up and were very misleading. The video was poorly received and was deleted not long after. Dawson Smith got a hold of the video and making his own video calling SWEGTA out for the wrong points in his video. Both the SWEGTA and Combat Wombat drama has been going on for roughly 2 years now.
So where does it all fall apart and thus making Dawson leave YouTube? Well, this one is kind of a bit lengthy so to say. When Combat Wombat made his callout video against SWEGTA in 2021, SWEGTA came back for a callout against Wombat on June 21, 2022, addressing the drama regarding his video about the transphobia in GTA 5 (the video is very cringeworthy) but the worst part about it is that SWEGTA was not defending his statements and instead was just an hour-long rant shit-talking on Wombat. Wombat took it to Twitter the very next day basically exposing SWEGTA about the callout and long before this, they used to be friends. Around this time, Wombat makes a post in the community tab letting people know about the drama and originally, he was going to make a video on SWEGTA again but was scrapped. He also goes over as to why he was burnout from making content.
But the real question is whatever happened to him? Every now and then, he'll be on Twitter dropping a post every once in a while, (example of this is two tweets on November 8). Roughly three months ago, he came back making another post in the community tab announcing a podcast channel that he and some friends been working on called "The Late Nite Podcast" and you can check it out with the link provided.
