Well, it's the first of October and were back with another post today. DKOldies, it's a term that most people already heard of. From scamming people out of their money for overpriced games and consoles to selling them very dusty, dirty and even outright broken. That's DKOldies for you. If you've been following along, you know that I talked about them in three separate posts; the first one is just talking about the history on how they started and why the overpriced dirty concoles and games are a big issue with the company. And both the second and third one is just updates and more of a continuation of the first post. Now we are back talking about them again and oh boy were in for a doozy. The company is simply not admitting defeat.
What's New Once Again:
Their Statement / Refurbishing Policy / Still Lying:
It's been a while since I've last talked about DKOldies and how it's still being a big scam company when it comes to video games. Roughly 4 weeks ago, DKOldies made a community post talking briefly about the 1-year warranty for the people that bought from them realizing that the consoles/games weren't refurbished and then linked it to the refurbishing policy on their website. Then they made another post of the same topic and posted the same link again. They did these two more times all about the refurbishing policy.
So, the refurbishing policy talks about troubleshooting such as turning the console on or off and all the ports working, you know regular stuff like that. There are two sections of the policy that talk about damaged consoles and the 'cleaning process' talking about taking out every component and use their cleaning tools and anything else would be cleaned by hand. What's odd is that they can't clean rust as it's not covered by them in the policy and rust is very easy to clean by hand. The policy continues on as they discuss all of the consoles that deemed to be not functioning through their repair process but still people are covered by the 1-year warranty. What makes this part strange is that the ten bullet points they have under the topic, they don't talk about what specific consoles they're pointing out. Are they talking about every single console or the ones that are deemed broken? My guess is the ones that deemed broken because of the process that 'they go through' without taking the necessary measures.
At this point, Joey and DKOldies are basically acknowledging the controversy that surrounds them. It took them 8 to 9 months to get the word out to them and realize what's going on. Here's where things start to get worse and ugly for them. At the start of September 2023, they posted a statement on Facebook (archived from Reddit due to their high output of posts) as well as the Community Post from YouTube. The whole statement is just them being defensive about their brand and trying to attack on content creators and YouTuber's, basically pulling a Minecraft tactic here. Instead of actually addressing the situation as to what the actual problem is, they still take the alternate route to continue lying to the people. The ironic thing is that they discuss ethics in their statement which I find laughably bad. As the results go, the statement was met with negative reception. Jacob R, ReviewTechUSA and many others made videos talking about the statement and with them lying to customers.
Despite the negativity (now that the statement came out basically defending their brand and telling us were wrong), reviews for them had gone up slightly. When I first talked about them way back in January, reviews were between a 2 and a 3 out of 5. Glassdoor had rose from 2.5 to a 2.9, Trustpilot rose from 3 to 3.4 and Pissedconsumer rose from 2.2 to 2.3. I'm not sure if these are bots or the people that just don't listen especially from what they said in their statement. Again, from a distant standpoint, you're better off just going onto eBay and buying the same consoles with even more controllers and more games at much cheaper prices. Why do we need to pay premium price for refurbished consoles/games only to realize that there isn't any quality control? This is just mindboggling.
