It's fucking crazy that when a douchetuber comes along and makes videos on YouTube, they end up becoming the biggest manchild on the very platform. We've all seen it happened not only on YouTube but everywhere else on other social media platforms mostly in the vlog category. I've discussed a few vlog related channels like Sienna Mae Gomez, Art Van Grow, Guava Juice and Brooke Houts. Check out those posts if you're interested but anyways today, we are going to talk about Brent Rivera; a YouTube vlogger that makes vlog related videos but was caught doing clickbait videos, being rude an arrogant to another YouTuber and made a bullshit apology video to try and save his own life.
Brent Rivera (also known as Brent Austin Rivera and MrBrent98) started his account on August 1, 2009, but the account remained inactive for roughly 3 years until May 5, 2012, when the first video titled "Brents Cooking Show - Lava Cake" was released. From there, his content in the early days were mostly short-related videos like How to Procrastinate, Would You Rather..., Worst Flight of My Life, 5 Things That Make Me MAD and many others. As the years progressed, he would switch his content around to making collab related videos, Challenges and Vlogs. One of his most popular yet most viewed video on his channel is titled "PAUSE CHALLENGE (Brother VS Sister!!) Brent Rivera" which has a current total of 63M views. Brent currently sits at a little over 25M subscribers at the time I'm making this post.
The Big Fall:
The Tyler Oliveira Encounter:
On January 24, 2023, A YouTuber by the name of Tyler Oliveira made a video (shown above) where he actually encountered Brent at the same hotel when Brent was making a video titled "OVERNIGHT IN THE WORLD'S WEIRDEST HOTELS!" (which was released roughly a week later) Tyler was staying at the same hotel and run into Brent to ask him some questions. Tyler would ask him if he'd clickbait, hence the reason with all of the people in costumes. This further sour the mood with Brent as they called the cops on Tyler. After several attempts to be on good terms, it wasn't enough, and the police essentially kicked him out of the hotel.
As a result, Brents video that I linked was received overwhelmingly poorly. At the time I'm making this post, the video has 195k likes to 604.7k dislikes which is quite a lot. Honestly, the most pathetic thing about this whole situation is the response. It took him almost a week and a half to respond. You know how the situation goes because the video was criticized for basically just doubling down on the situation and trying to throw insults at him saying that "he yelled at me." In other words, he's just shifting the blame on others, and it wasn't an apology.
Copyright Abuse:
In light of the drama with Brent and Tyler during this time, YouTuber's like Ryth, Dumpy, Kavos, Jalyn and Breone made videos about him abusing the copyright system when all of it falls under fair use. Cr1tikal as well as Killer Memestar made videos on it as well. Right after Dumpy made several different videos on him regarding the clickbait bullshit and the repeated callouts, Brent decided to do both the copyright strike and copyright takedowns on Dumpy. Many people on Twitter reported on the issue as well as responding with the #Brent_Rivera. Dumpy decided to get the strike lifted and with enough attention, YouTube did not listen and stuck with Brent's side however the battle isn't over. Dumpy is still in hot water even if Brent tries to throw a lawsuit to him. Needless to say, don't trust cunts like Brent.
