I'm glad that I get to talk about this guy because new information has come out against him. When people do the stupidest stunts, it makes you wonder why they do this in the first place. Well, it's pretty simple as a way of getting attention for views. Shortly after, things go wrong, and they completely lose it all together. All because they want to make a quick buck and also the fact that they do this for publicity. That is what this guy did and today we are going to be talking about Trevor Jacob; a YouTuber who specializes in alternative sports, snowboarding as well as vlog type videos but was stuck in the line of controversy for jumping out of an airplane by himself with a parachute on.
Even though the history for this guy is quite short, I'm just going to explain it briefly. Trevor Jacob was born on August 6, 1993, in West Hills, California. In the early days, he would go snowboarding at an early age. Years later he would compete in the Winter Olympics between 2014 to 2016. Trevor also participated in in BMX Riding, Motocross, MMA and a few others.

This is the type of shit that just pisses me off. For anyone who's been into aviation (including myself) will know that the plane that he's flying is called the Taylorcraft which looks similar to the Piper J-3 Cub. It's a small plane that only fits a maximum of 2 people onboard: one for the passenger and one for the pilot. In this situation, Trevor was the only pilot. I'll try to explain this as much as I can. In the video he uploaded titled "I Crashed My Airplane" (uploaded on December 23, 2021), he was flying roughly over 500-1000 vertical feet when his engine stopped working. Rather than flying down all the way to safety (where there so many areas to land), he decided to jump out of the plane with a parachute on. Keep in mind that there's no one else on the plane except for the GoPros he attached so the plane is just freefalling. That is obviously illegal to jump out with no one in it.
At the very ending of the video, he meets a local and tells his own story to the individual. He was obviously lying to the individual saying that "there was nowhere to land" when there were plenty of spaces to land. As a result, the video was received poorly for obvious reasons as it has 39k likes to 245k dislikes. Many people pointed out the parachute as the first red flag and his pilot license have been revoked.
It took a while for anything to blow up this drama but on May 11, 2023, there was an investigation on Trevor and eventually he admitted to it, saying that he was intentionally doing it for views. There was a court hearing in the process and Trevor pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. Meanwhile, articles were coming out as well as Aviation channels like Mentour Now! and Trent Palmer making videos on this situation as well as Trevor's stupidity. It was also trending on Twitter under the #TrevorJacob. Well this goes to show that a stupid stunt will lead you to prison. Honestly, 20 years just isn't enough for this guy.
