Maybe it's just me but I despise critics (most notoriously in the movie industry). They either don't add anything to the table or just come up with a narrative to talk shit about great movies. In general, I also hate channels that are literally company based just like the ones that talk about movies, drama and other things. It's disgusting and also fucking broken by design. I'm not making any sense at all with this. Today we are talking about something completely generic and that is TheThings; a channel that makes movie and TV related content, but also brainwashes people into thinking that something happened in a movie or a series when that's not the case.
TheThings (that's just how they call themselves) is also a company and its creation date remains unknown. Their YouTube channel is related to movies and TV shows while the website is related to celebrities. They created their channel on October 29, 2014 (2 days before Halloween). There first video titled "Disgusting Things Girls Do But Will Never Admit To" was uploaded to channel (which has been private by the channel). They would talk about topics related to Disney & Pixar, Nickelodeon, Bingeworthy Shows, Nostalgia and several others. Their most viewed yet popular video was back in August of 2017 titled "10 Disney Princesses Reimagined as Modern Day BAD GIRLS" which is just a side-by-side comparison of the actual character and fanart equivalent.
Why Their Bad:
Clickbait Titles & Thumbnails / The Secret Life of Pets:
I wanted to start off with this one because the person who runs and possibly owns the channel is too stupid to make a comparison. You may have noticed that there's a topic called The Secret Life of Pets. Well, there are a couple of videos on that subject, and this is one of them titled "10 Things The Secret Life of Pets Got Right" which was uploaded back on June 9, 2019. Right at the beginning, they try to make a stupid comparison between a living animal or creature to a toy. As a matter of fact, they just compared The Secret Life of Pets to Toy Story. Those are two different things so trying to make that comparison is absurd.
Their website covered in clickbait. |
So apart from the dumb comparison bullshit, TheThings is also another way to clickbait their audience (maybe not all of it but there's a majority that is just plain obvious). The channel has the same yellow circle as well as the same yellow arrow (similar to the GTA 5 Clickbait YouTuber's I did awhile back) to lure in the audience in a pretty scummy way. Their website is filled with some of the most clickbait titles & thumbnails and to make matters worse, they upload articles multiple times in a single day. To me this is similar to what pathetic journalism is. Most of the articles on the site are related to celebrities (it's kind of ironic because they have a channel called TheThings Celebrity) which is no surprise because they're an easy target to go after. I don't even understand why they exist if they resort to clickbait garbage.
