Whatever Happened to AdamZoneTopMarks

Side Note: Please do not go and attack or harass these people.
Just so you know, they're still making content but haven't been getting the views.

Welcome back to another episode of Whatever Happened To; where we talk about YouTuber's that were very promising but soon fell apart for being terrible. I talked about a few of them like TwoAwesomeGamers, ExpertVillage and LupisVulpes (though LupisVulpes wasn't promising). For anyone who's reading this post, I'm sure you've probably heard of these people from back in the day. In fact, they were considered to be the most popular YouTuber's around the golden age of YouTube (2011 to be exact). Well, were talking about them and for this we have AdamZoneTopMarks; a British YouTuber who make videos playing games but had fell apart for being sexist and angry against their fans.

AdamZoneTopMarks (also known as GameChap but real name is George) used to be one of the few Minecraft YouTuber's out there. He started his account on April 18, 2007, but remained inactive for three years until October 19, 2010 when the first video titled "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN KART: EPISODE ONE" was released. Videos weren't coming out of his channel often until the summer of 2011 when he started playing Ocarina of Time on the 3DS. At this time, he would upload two episodes of the Ocarina of Time playthrough per day. Adam would play other games as well with the popular series being Minecraft. His friend Bertie would join in on the fun with Bertie appearing in the first ever Minecraft Adventures: Quest for the Golden Monocle. Around mid-summer of 2011, both of them began a series which is titled Minecraft Mods. This lasted all the way from season 1 to season 7. One of the most popular and yet most viewed video on his channel is titled "Mine It Out" which is a parody of the will.i.am's song Scream & Shout and it sits at over 49M views.

The Fall:

Sexism Against Women / Clickbait / The Problematic Ego:

So, I haven't watched Adam's content in quite a long time. I've watched him between 2011-2013 and that was it, I moved on. I did keep track and notes within the years passing and his downfall started between 2014 and 2015. Around this timeframe, Adam would switch content over to Nintendo based games and use female video game characters sometimes in seductive poses as a way to clickbait his audience. He literally has a playlist titled 'GIRLS IN GAMES' which is so absurd. Everyone pointed out that he was also sexist against women hence the reason for the thumbnails. It's not the only clickbait he does. An example of this is a video titled "Super Mario Maker TOP 5 HARDEST LEVELS! (Wii U)," where both him and Bertie play the hardest levels, however people pointed out about the 17% clear rate. People have said that the 17% clear rate is relatively easy and very simple to complete. When they got called out by this, they disabled likes and comments, but the comments were enabled again later on.

Of course, this wasn't the first time of him having the terrible motive to create clickbait. Adam was called out again for having such a terrible attitude against the fans. On October 18, 2014, Bertie (Adam's friend) came out with a reddit post detailing the problematic behaviors against Adam. The reddit post details about cutting ties with him due to this and also the fact that on a different forum post, he would ban people with either disabilities or conditions. This included a screenshot of Adam banning a dyslexic person saying that he was 'illiterate and unwelcomed.'

He also made a response in regards to the perverted thumbnails from a reddit post, but he deleted it shortly afterwards but thankfully, this post has it copied and pasted which I'll read it now:

"It is always a pleasure to read a loathsome little collection of immature hatred from a group of humour-starved individuals who are not worth the collective bandwidth cost of transmitting their usernames.
Were it that one could apply to their façade of bravado such labels as “hypocritical bigotry”, “overt racism” and “selective ignorance”, but alas, one feels that such could never hope to accurately describe the result of their many hours spent boiling in a vitriolic stew of misplaced insolence and rampant self-doubt. Indeed, perhaps it would be wasted on such a motley band, the sum total of whose intelligent quotients in respect of wit, one fears, would not exceed their number.
That said, one cannot deny feeling at least a tad admiring of the gusto with which the diminutive collection of doubtlessly besmirched keyboard-bludgeoning specimens went about their misguided, vituperative tiradery.
With the above said, one would be pleased to scrape their rather repulsive accumulation from the ranks of one’s highly valued subscriber base (akin to drawing from the ocean with a teaspoon) upon the publication of their YouTube channel hyperlinks within a strict five-second period from the date of posting of this missive.
In closing and sum, one is most pleased that this Reddit posting has served its purpose; to ask not what is wrong with GameChap, but - rather - what is wrong with the posting’s perpetrators.
(As for the Chaps and Chapettes that may be reading this message, I thank you most kindly for being jolly fine fellows. We shall continue unabated in our untiring toil towards the good cause for you all!"

Now this statement that Adam wrote was clearly missing the point and has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. He's basically ranting on someone that was asking why they were showing boobs of video game characters. Not only that but they were part of the Yogscast which were called out for the abuse on their show.

Now you may be thinking that after the whole drama with Adam being sexist against women that it would affect his subscriber count. Actually no. He kept on gaining subscribers until he reached his peak in 2020. Based on the data on socialblade, he's been losing subscribers since 2020 going from 826,000 subs all the way down to 798,000 subs within three years (at the time I'm making this post). Viewership has staggery dropped since 2015 all the way down to 24.7% and the channel has been barely cracking between 1k-5k views (in some cases) per video. It goes to show, one simple change leads to failure.
