Nitter is Officially Dead (Alternatives?)

So if you've been tuning into my blog for quite some time now, you'll know about the topic I usually talk about the most with that being Nitter which is the Twitter alternative but more in a private fashion. I usually use them as sources.

Unfortunately, with many of the instances I regularly use, almost every single one of them don't work or they've been shutdown due to the instances being out of date. Well, we have somewhat of an update and it's not pretty.

Elon has been in the battle against Nitter for quite sometime. Everyone knew that something is going on behind the scenes until the news broke out that Elon won against Nitter. With the way that Elon is handling things on Twitter, it seems like he should've never gotten the keys in the first place because this is what big corporations like what he has do; destroy things and change them for the worst.

So where does this leave us? Well, In a previous post I talked about last time, I brought up other instances that you can still use because while the service itself is dead, that doesn't mean other people can have the keys to handle the other instances and that could possibly work though very time consuming.

As a matter of fact the last time I made a post on Nitter, a lot of the instances were still online but today as I'm making this post, the instance have been slowly shutting down leaving the instances much less this time around. So what are the alternatives? Well, I'll name a few:

  • Mastodon - Like the Twitter alternative though isn't widely used much but it works.
  • Sotwe - Like Twitter though you can't view tweets directly and depending upon the browser, images will not load in certain browsers. Also, be advised to have an AdBlocker because of the pop-up ads. Thankfully they fixed that.
  • Buhitter - Japanese Twitter Reposter. Be advised to have an AdBlocker because of the pop-up ads. Suffers much like Sotwe with the images loading in certain browsers.
  • Twstalker - Tweet viewer though you can't view tweets directly (you can download the tweet if you want to). Suffers much like Sotwe with the images loading in specific browsers. Be heavily advised to use an Adblocker because of pop-up ads. They do bypass.
So there you have it. Unfortunately with the limited amount of tweet viewers out there and unless if some things change, I can't really keep this blog going or to keep it afloat. Until then, well have to see.
