Vlog videos. A name that exists back in the early days of YouTube. For those that don't know or unaware what Vlogs are, it's basically people who film themselves in an everyday life. Whether it would be going out for food or going to play video games/sports, it's all up to the person behind the camera to upload that content if they wanted to (hope that made any sense). I've seen vloggers upload videos that get cut from the original. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it adds a little bonus to the original video or something extra in that regard. As the title would insist, we are talking about two particular topics in one post. The first one involves the vlog videos as to why they're old and dated and the second one leads up to the family channels (essentially the same exact thing). But before I go on with this post please do not go after these people mentioned, meaning don't go and harass/attack them. With that being said let's begin.
Vlog videos started out in the early days of YouTube. The only time period that I've seen vlog videos was as early as 2009, maybe even further back. Once one person started doing vlogs, then the others jump on the bandwagon (well some but not all of them). Vlog videos are pretty straight forward. A person records themselves everyday about their everyday lives and that's really about it. Most of the time the content can get interesting and fun but that's in the early days and nowadays it's becoming more of an annoyance. I've also seen vloggers with the most annoying voices. A lot of times they can get very excited on camera but doing that often it can get very repetitive. Honestly vloggers like RayWilliamJohnson, FRED, NigaHiga, Philip DeFranco I guess were considered the Golden Era of the vlogs and helped boost the trend? I'm not really sure and I don't have the evidence to back these claims up.
The Demise:
So, most people are going to be mad at this but before you do that, I respect any of your opinions whether or not you like these people that are mentioned in this post. The people in the videos that are shown above (CTFxC and ShayTards as an example) I use to watch their content until it hit its peak for me in 2014. Personally, I think that the vlog videos are old and are dated. I feel like the problem with vlogs in particular is that since you rarely see any in the trending tab of YouTube, the problem has to do with being on camera constantly. Yes, you're on camera everyday shooting a vlog video and to me it gets very stale after watching so many and trying to keep up with the up-to-date videos (hope that make sense). I mean wouldn't you expect other content from them other than vlogs? I would also imagine that the rest of the family would get tired of it, even if you're doing it for fame.
The Family Channels:
Speaking of families and the family channels, were onto that topic next. Based on an article I saw on veniceoarsman.com, they described family channels as awful and everything wrong with YouTube nowadays and couldn't agree more. Family channels are the pinnacle of awfulness when it comes to exposing your kids in ways that no one has ever seen before. Plus, when the kids are older and see the content that they're families are posting, they probably wouldn't like that. The way the parents do this to their kids is baffling and very unsafe. It's also hiding the fact that information could get exposed and leaves the space open for everyone. Even though these aren't family vlogs but when you talk about family channels like The Ace Family or something like The Prince Family, what they do in terms of their content is literally exploitation of their children or whatever person is living in the family. What I'm trying to say is having your children on internet videos is dangerous and like I said it opens up for everyone. I also feel like YouTube needs to do something about it before anything like this gets worse from here on out.
